Junior anglers are very welcome within CDAA, in fact we actively encourage the recruitment and education of responsible young anglers. Up to the age of twelve, juniors are allowed to fish for free, provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Between the ages of twelve and eighteen juniors have their own membership category that allows them to fish unaccompanied.
Juniors should also note that there are some waters where extra restrictions apply.
At Wirgol no juniors under 14 are allowed to fish without an adult member over 18 years of age present.
At More House Farm Fishery no juniors under 14 are allowed to fish without an adult member over 18 years of age present.
At Gabriels Fishery no juniors under 16 are allowed to fish without an adult over 21 years of age present.
At CDAA we run a junior day each June so that young anglers can come and have a go at angling, to see if they enjoy it. We have run Junior Day for may years now, so click on the tab on the left for further information and to book your place for the next event.
Each year the Club run a series of matches for junior anglers. The season begins in June with the Alistair Purves Memorial Trophy and then matches usually run fortnightly on a Saturday after that. In August we have The Frant Junior Shield and the matches culminate in the first week of October with the First Diesel Junior Senior Challenge Cup. All junior members are welcome although it would be wise to contact our Junior Match Steward Roger Funnell on 01892-663512 to reserve your place. Alternatively, you can email Roger at firstname.lastname@example.org
Carl and Alex
Carl and Alex Smith are two young anglers who came to Junior Day in 2008. They had barely fished before, but were quick learners and since then they have gone from strength to strength. Carl and Alex now make videos for the angling press and have their own You Tube channel. Carl and Alex's video tuitions are worth watching as all anglers, whether young, old, or somewhere in between, will find them interesting as well as educative. Carl and Alex also have their own website, click on the logo to take a trip there.
